Mrs. Crisler Required Survey for Week One: All Students Need to Complete

March19

Students,

I have created a survey for my students to reflect on their needs for digital learning. I would like to get your opinion on conducting an online social chat time that will be monitored by me. This would give you time to socialize with their peers and check in with me. I haven’t had a lot of time to get to know the students, so this would give me time to get to know them as well.

Please have students complete the required survey: Mrs. Crisler’s Required Survey

Feel free to send me any work you have already completed or any cute, appropriate, videos you think you think me or your peers would enjoy. I would like to upload them on our blog.

Exciting Opportunity!

March18

Attention students!!! Please join me and listen to Andrew Peterson read from his award-winning YA novel!

Andrew Peterson will be using Facebook live to read from his first The Wingfeather Saga book, “On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness.” Starting Friday night, March 20th at 7pm central (that is 8pm our time) and will continue every night until he finishes the book.

He will start reading at the very beginning (a very good place to start) with Book 1. The Facebook readalongs will still be available for a few days after the live stream if students miss a night (or if bedtime comes before 7pm central). Students can visit andrew-peterson.com/the-wingfeather-saga to learn more about his books.

What’s The Wingfeather Saga?

It’s a series of four fantasy-adventure novels about the three Igiby children, Janner, Kalmar, and Leeli. At the beginning of the story Janner is twelve, Kalmar (whose nickname is Tink) is eleven, and their little sister Leeli is nine. They’re accompanied by Leeli’s dog Nugget, their mother Nia, and their ex-pirate grandfather Podo Helmer.

They live in a world called Aerwiar, which is exactly like our world–except they don’t have electricity or gunpowder, and there are all sorts of creepy animals, like sea dragons and toothy cows. Janner, the eldest, is about to discover that the ordinary little town where they live is anything but ordinary. In fact, he and his family are at the center of a great mystery that will change their lives forever.

I hope you’ll get your hands on a copy of the book and join the adventure. But beware of the toothy cows. They’re horrifying.

Parents, visit the parents’ section if you have questions or concerns about the books, and feel free to email me at andrew@wingfeathersaga.com.
